Dominic Lui is a teacher of voice, violin, and piano. He recently graduated from a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music majoring in classical voice.
Most recently, he performed in the ensemble of HMS Pinafore at the Hayes Theatre as a singing actor, pianist, and violinist and will tour the production to regional NSW later this year. In 2019, he was an Associate Young Artist with Pacific Opera. He has performed extensively with Pacific Opera including as a soloist in their Opera Scenes concerts and with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. In October 2019, Dominic performed the role of the Sailor and covered the role of Aeneas in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Other Theatre Company. He performed in the ensemble of the Sydney Conservatorium’s production of Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tirésias (2018) and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (2017). He has also sung in the Wollongong Spiegeltent as a featured artist in a Kurt Weill cabaret as well as in I Pagliacci (Opera Carnivale) in 2017.
In July 2019, he participated in the Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Art Song, a week-long program where he took part in masterclasses and sang in recital with celebrated song interpreter, Dr. Graham Johnson. A highlight of 2018 was singing in the ensemble for Broadway legend, Patti Lupone’s, touring concert, ‘Don’t Monkey with Broadway’ at the Sydney Opera house. Dominic performs regularly as a soloist with the Illawarra Choral society and in 2017, sang the tenor solo from Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes op. 52 at their 50th-anniversary concert.
He is passionate about music education and whole-heartedly believes in its’ importance to a well- rounded education.
