Violin & Piano Teacher Sydney

Lucy has been an enthusiastic music student since the age of three, receiving tuition in both Violin and Piano through the Orange Regional Conservatorium of Music. Lucy has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in Violin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2022.

Lucy has been a violin and piano teacher for 6 years, her students ranging from 4-50 years of age. This will be Lucy’s 5th year at the Inner West Institute of Music, where she teaches at the Five Dock Studio. Lucy enjoys helping her students play to the best of their abilities, and strives to continue to nurture her students’ love of music. Lucy has prepared her students for AMEB exams, and for the annual concerts held by IWIM.

Lucy has received many opportunities at her time at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, including an overseas tour to the United Kingdom, Germany and Czech Republic with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra. Lucy has also benefitted from many opportunities through the regional Conservatorium network. For example, participating in student programs with the the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian World Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp and Season programs, and the Royal
Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Lucy has benefitted enormously from several solo masterclass opportunities including Charlie Siem (Violin), Ola Rudner (Violin), Simon Tedeschi (piano), Avan Yu (piano). She has also had masterclasses in numerous orchestral settings, including with Concertmaster of Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Andrew Haveron, and in smaller chamber settings with the Australian String Quartet, lead by Dale Barltrop.

Lucy loves teaching and making music and feels privileged to have won various competitions and awards that allow her to work and learn from amazing mentors and orchestras. These include winning the 2016 and 2018 Orange Regional Concerto Competitions and the 2017 Macquarie Symphony Orchestra “Thompson Prize” Concerto Competition. Lucy was awarded her AMusA in Violin at 15 years of age. In 2018, Lucy’s long association with the ORC was recognised by naming the Senior String Scholarship in her honour. Lucy was chosen to play in the semi-final round of the Kendall National Violin Competition in 2020.
