Guitar & Ukulele Teacher

I grew up in a musical household, which helped expose me to a large variety of music at a young age. I started playing the violin at the age of 4 but moved on to the guitar in high school. I was completely captivated by rock music, moving on to discover blues, funk, soul, world music and studying both classical guitar and jazz guitar at a tertiary level. Over the years I have performed many styles: jazz, rock, African music, classical, funk etc.

I have over 15 years of experience as a tutor teaching guitar nylon/electric, bass guitar and piano. I completed my Bachelor of Music in 2009. I continued studying, completing a Graduate Diploma in Education in 2011. This led me to classroom music teaching in both High School and Primary School, from 2012 onwards. Last year I was in Sweden on exchange, teaching classroom music in a Swedish school, which was a very enriching experience.

I’ve been fortunate to have had numerous inspirational music teachers. They have had both vast amounts of music knowledge and the ability to impart it in a pragmatic and engaging way. This is largely my philosophy, to engage students with their musical interests in mind whilst expanding their knowledge base with other music genres.
