Violin Teacher
Caitlin has been playing violin since the age of 8 at her local public school where she found her love of orchestral music playing in the string ensemble. She has maintained connections with her primary school music teachers and currently tutors in the public school symphony orchestra “Symphonia Jubilate”. She is also a private violin tutor at Concord West Public School, where she began her journey all those years ago.
In 2015 she joined the Sydney Youth Orchestra’s strings program, and in 2022 is now a member of the SYO Philharmonic orchestra, and concertmaster of the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra. SYO has provided Caitlin with a foundation in orchestral playing and many learning experiences that have shaped her musical journey. She really enjoys going on regional tour and playing ‘meet the orchestra’ concerts for young musicians. Caitlin was also highly involved in the music program at Santa Sabina College, participating in the college chamber orchestra and symphony orchestra. This led to opportunities such a European music tour, in which she was part of the quartet and the symphony orchestra where she performed in venues around Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg and Prague.
This opportunity allowed her to meet young musicians from around the world and appreciate the ability of music to create connections. Another of her favourite memories was performing in the orchestra for the Santa Sabina production of “The Little Mermaid”. Caitlin loves engaging with students and passing on the positive impact music has made on her life. She started teaching at IWIM in 2021 and has enjoyed making connections with enthusiastic new violin players.
Outside of music, Caitlin is studying Software Engineering at UTS, and has completed internships at ASX and Nine. She loves being able to pursue both of her passions and is excited to see what comes next.
