With over 30 years of experience studying and performing contemporary electric and accoustic bass ands guitars, John brings a wealth of real-world expertise to the Inner West Institute of Music.
His teaching philosophy focuses on a practical approach to learning, hands on deck with playing guitars and preparation for stage be it solo, duo, trio or a whole band by mentoring students to transform from theoretical learners into confident performers.
Artistry & Experience
John’s musical foundation includes studies at the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music, alongside private tuition from some of Sydney’s finest working musicians that have been a part of national and international artist touring.
An active performer, he regularly takes the stage in pop, rock, soul, jazz, and funk bands of all sizes. Throughout his career, John has shared stages and collaborated with top-tier local, national and international artists.
With a passion for live performance, he continues to pursue this very day. He currently manages, creates events and performs as the bass player and backing vocalist for three prominent Sydney-based tribute bands spanning classic rock, blues, soul and funk hits.

- Ensuring strict safety and regulatory compliance across all locations.
- Launching innovative music programmes in Sydney’s public and private schools.
- Expanding educational outreach from early childhood centres to adult learning programmes.
