Frequently Asked Questions

Victoria, can we have some introduction text here to this section?

What can I expect?

IWIM offers individual or group music tuition on a number of instruments in a variety of teaching styles to cater for all ages, levels and personalities. We believe that a balanced attitude toward lifelong music learning should be encouraged in every person. The benefits of a music education have been well-documented and really should be considered as a necessary component of learning; but also, we know that the study of music enhances personal skills, such as patience, problem-solving, creativity, self-expression, concentration and memorization, to name a few.

What if I’ve never taken music lessons before?

No experience is necessary prior to starting your first lesson or class at IWIM. IWIM offers private tuition to students aged four through to adult with tailored private lessons to address the learning style and goals of each student, from the beginner to the advanced student.

We are more than happy to provide advice or let you trial instruments if you know you want to start a journey through music , but are unsure of which instrument to choose from and throughout the year , we host “Instrument Petting Zoos” which allow you to come in and try a large variety of instruments at the same time with experts on hand to give advice.

What times are your classes on?

Group class times are found in the Lessons, Classes and Ensembles page of our website. Private Lessons are a set time each week, which is agreed upon lessons commencement,  to suit your convenience and the teacher’s availability.

Where are you located?

We are located in a number of locations in Sydney’s Inner West; including Five Dock, Balmain, Abbotsford and Russell Lea.

What happens if I miss a class?

For private tuition, we will always endeavour to reschedule a lesson If at least 24 hours’ notice is given.

In the event that this can’t be arranged, no lesson fee will be charged and the lesson will become a credit. If under 24 hours’ notice is given, then the lesson will be charged for.
