Je-Min McFadden

Je-Min McFadden is a violin and viola teacher at Inner West Institute of Music, offering supportive and engaging lessons for students of all ages and abilities.

Born in Taiwan and later adopted into Australia, Je-Min discovered his passion for music at a young age, finding in it a powerful form of self-expression. More than 13 years later, his love of music continues to grow through performance, study and teaching.

Je-Min began playing violin at the age of seven before taking up viola at thirteen. In 2021, he was awarded a music scholarship at St Andrew’s Cathedral School, where he later served as Principal Viola of both the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. In his final year of school, he was nominated for Encore in recognition of his outstanding HSC Music performance.

Since 2025, Je-Min has been studying Classical Performance with a scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, part of the University of Sydney, under the guidance of acclaimed British-Australian violist, conductor and educator Roger Benedict.

As a violin and viola teacher, Je-Min is passionate about creating lessons that are engaging, supportive and tailored to each student. His teaching focuses on building strong technical foundations while encouraging creativity, confidence and a lifelong enjoyment of music.

Je-Min works with beginner, intermediate and advanced students, helping each student progress at their own pace. Whether a student is starting violin lessons or viola lessons for the first time, developing their viola technique, preparing for performances, or building confidence as a musician, Je-Min aims to create a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged and motivated.
