Jupiter Lawson

Jupiter Lawson is a jazz musician, bandleader and brass teacher based in Sydney’s Inner West. At Inner West Institute of Music, Jupiter teaches trumpet, trombone, baritone and euphonium lessons for students of different ages, abilities and learning styles.

Jupiter is currently studying Jazz Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, specialising in trumpet. With six years of teaching experience across private lessons and group settings, he is passionate about creating an encouraging, enjoyable and supportive learning environment for every student.

As a trumpet and brass teacher, Jupiter helps students build strong foundations in technique, tone, rhythm, reading, improvisation and performance confidence. His lessons can support beginner, intermediate and advanced students, whether they are learning their first notes, preparing for school band, developing jazz skills, or working towards performances and personal music goals.

Jupiter also has considerable experience tutoring neurodivergent students and takes a thoughtful, flexible approach to help each student feel comfortable, supported and motivated in their lessons.

Alongside teaching, Jupiter is an active performer. He is a member of Sydney Conservatorium Big Band 1, the creator and lead trumpet player of the Jack Attack Big Band, and toured China twice in 2025 as a member of the Stars Gala International Orchestra.
