Music and Mother’s Day

Music and Mother’s Day

Music is a big part of my life and I can largely thank my Mum for that. She’s taught hundreds of children and adults how to play piano for over 50 years and is a shining example of how music can bring a family together. It’s the foundation of who we are.

This Mother’s Day is going to be very different for most of us. This year we won’t be gathering around the table for lunch, love and hugs. Whilst we may be physically distant from our Mums and special women in our lives, I wanted to encourage all of our musicians out there to make this year memorable by sharing their love of music and supporting some of our musical Mums. Here’s a few gift ideas for the Mums and Mother figures in our lives.

Create a concert

If your loved ones live close, why not organise to serenade them from the footpath? You could also perform for your neighbours, who might be missing or unable to connect with their Mums or children. If a footpath concert is not an option, then go online! Organise a day and time and use this beautiful illustration that we commissioned from an IWIM Camille Green to invite them along.

Share your musical love

Why not gift your love of music to someone else? Inner West Institute of Music has gift vouchers for all types of lessons that can be used online now or saved until we return to our studios. Your mum can enjoy everything from singing to piano and drums. We can even organise a group lesson for the family for something different. Contact us here to arrange your voucher.

Self Development with Suzi Petrozzi

When we are emotionally triggered, or charged, we end up projecting on to others unresolved or suppressed emotions. This is missed opportunity for growth. Rather than letting your emotions control you, you can learn how to unlock and master them. Suzi’s self study course ‘Master Your Emotions, Activate Your Brilliance’  is the perfect gift to learn how to do this. Use the code IWIM0520 for your special offer of 35% off the listed price.

There is no doubt that there will be many Mums missing the hugs of loved ones this year. But they can still feel your love and will no doubt look back on this year as one to remember, especially if you use the ideas we’ve given you here!

Happy Mother’s Day from my musical family to yours.
